Geshe Achrya Thobten Loden

 

Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhist Society in Australia.

Born in 1924, Geshe-la became a monk at the age of seven. Completing his study of all divisions of Buddhist philosophy, he was awarded the highest possible degree, that of Geshe Lharampa. He also completed an Acharya (master's) degree at the Varanasi Sanskrit University in India and then gained a master's qualification in vajrayana Buddhism after six years at the Gyumed Tantric College.

Since arriving in Australia in 1976 Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden has taught thousands of Australians about Tibetan Buddhist methods to attain greater peace and happiness to help both oneself and others. He has carefully overseen the development of six centres in Australia under the auspices of the Tibetan Buddhist Society, enabling students with all levels of interest to experience this profound, yet highly practical philosophy. Geshe-la's weekly lectures are delivered in fluent English, with much humour, and great wisdom to contemplate during personal reflection and meditation.

Geshe-la has now published five books. These include short, medium and extensive Path to Enlightenment books (lam.rim). Additionally he has written books on Buddha Potential, and Yamantaka practice. Geshe-la is now writing his sixth book, which provides an extensive explanation of the Vajrayogini practice.
