Cultivating Joy in Trying Times
Onsite and online

We look forward to welcoming you to our July one day retreat, to be led by Venerable Anna Goldstein.
Anna is a Tibetan Buddhist nun from the Tibetan Buddhist Society in Melbourne. She has studied meditation and Buddhist philosophy for more than 30 years with the guidance of the great Tibetan scholar and meditator Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden.
In challenging times, joy may feel distant — even impossible. Yet inspiring Tibetan teachers like His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Society’s founder, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, have shown us that joy can flourish even in hardship.Despite great adversity through the loss of their country, these great leaders pressed forward, completing their studies and sharing their extraordinary insights with the world.
They acknowledged that their path had not been easy. Nevertheless, instead of anger and angst, there was a determination to do whatever they could to create a more peaceful and happier world through kindness, wisdom and compassion.
These teachers emphasised that such skills are accessible to anyone willing to learn. Inspired by their teachings, this day course — Cultivating Joy in Trying Times — will explore practical tools for navigating uncertainty and finding inner calm and happiness.
We will also learn how to improve visualisation meditation skills, a powerful technique for nurturing positivity and clarity.
The retreat is suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike.

The retreat offers ample opportunities for conversation, peaceful walks in glorious gardens, and shared meals — a wonderful experience for both new and experienced meditators alike. Whether you are seeking new tools for well-being or simply a space to reconnect with joy, this retreat invites you to discover calmness, connection, and contentment, even in the most testing situations.
